DWR Drought and Water Shortage Risk Explorer Tool webinar

The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) is pleased to announce that it will be holding a webinar on May 27, 2020 from 9 a.m. to noon via GoToWebinar to discuss the Drought and Water Shortage Risk Explorer Tool. The purpose of this webinar is to review, clarify, discuss, and receive comments on the drought and water shortage risk scoring and interactive tool. We welcome all interested users. Staff will present how to navigate the tool and what data was used (and why) to estimate risk and vulnerabilities to drought and water shortage.

This webinar is in lieu of the January 31 workshop that was cancelled due to the delay in releasing the Drought and Water Shortage Risk Explorer Tool and the draft report entitled Small Water Suppliers and Rural Communities at Risk of Drought and Water Shortage Vulnerability and Recommendations and Guidance to Address the Planning Needs of These Communities.

The Draft Report and Risk Explorer Tool have since been released for public comments. More information and links to the Draft Report and the online Risk Explorer Tool can be found on DWR website:

The Drought and Water Shortage Risk Explorer Tool is intended to help water systems better understand the data that informed their ranking for potential vulnerability to drought and water shortage. This tool will help inform small water systems on steps they can take to prepare for future drought and water shortage conditions.
