Demonstration Projects
Nearly $1.8 million of the North Coast Resource Partnership Regional Forest and Fire Capacity funding has been used to fund 13 demonstration projects intended to be scalable, replicable, measurable, innovative, and result in outcomes that will increase the pace, scope, and scale of multi-benefit forest management and stewardship in the North Coast region. The demonstration projects were designed to test concepts, methods, and innovative techniques to identify effective management practices for hazardous fuel load reduction and forest health that can be quantified and scaled up in the region and elsewhere. These demonstration projects – while focused on forest management and hazardous fuel load reduction – were intentionally targeted to integrate with community preparedness and fire adapted community efforts funded by other sources. Lessons learned from these projects are integrated into the Plan and will be shared throughout the region.
Demonstration Projects also create an opportunity to expand and enhance cross-boundary collaboration between regional partners. The following key partners sponsored demonstration projects funded by the RFFC program:
